Biography
Xian Cui started her training in Classical Ballet at the age of 6, under Herlinda Sutiono, and subsequently with Dancepointe Academy Singapore, under the tutelage of Lena Foo. She has completed the Royal Academy of Dance Classical Ballet Grade 2 to 8 and the Royal Academy of Dance Vocational Graded Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2.
In her Secondary education, Xian Cui began exploring other genres of Dance, including Chinese Dance and Contemporary, under Tan Chai Hwang, Low Ee Chiang and Dan Kwoh. Being on various overseas dance immersions to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Institute of the Arts Barcelona, as well as Pineapple Dance Studios in London has inspired Xian Cui to pursue Dance at Falmouth University in the United Kingdom, where she graduated with First Class Honours in BA(Hons) Dance and Choreography. Under the tutelage of Kuldip Singh-Barmi, Simon Birch, Polly Motley, Emily Dobson, Grace Sellwood and Eugenia Demeglio, she has studied a wide variety of Contemporary Dance techniques such as Graham, Flying Low and Countertechnqiue.

In her years in the U.K., Xian Cui choreographed and performed in various works both in and outside of University, including Ripe /\ Ruin (2018), created and performed as part of her final year performance project, We Are (2018), a duet choreographed and performed at Hall for Cornwall as a guest item for Carrick Dance Platform. As an Alumni, she and her company, SPUR, was invited to perform Ripe /\ Ruin for the 2018 Freshers’ Week. Xian Cui was also a performer for Passage for Par (2018), a dance performance created specially for and presented on Par Beach in Cornwall, conceived and directed by choreographer Rosemary Lee. As an artist, Xian Cui maintains an open and inquisitive mind and aspires to be a versatile dancer who is always experimenting, exploring and evolving.
In addition to performing and choreographing, Xian Cui has taught dance classes and workshops in Singapore, Medan (Indonesia) and the United Kingdom. She is a Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher and a Ministry of Education (MOE)-registered instructor. She has been a Full-time Ballet and Contemporary Dance Teacher with Dancepointe Academy Singapore since 2019, teaching Children and Adults. She is also a TEAMdpa mentor for the Youth and Senior Performance and Competition Teams of Dancepointe Academy. Students under her tutelage achieved winnings in both local (WBGP, GTB, MIBC, IGBP, CSTD Singapore, SCC) and overseas competitions (CSTD Asia-Pacific and HKCCDC) for solo, duo, trio, ensemble and troupe items.

As a dance educator, Xian Cui hopes to share her knowledge and experiences in dance while inspiring people of all ages to emerge as confident beings through Dance.
